We had the traveler with an adventurous spirit in mind when we created this itinerary. Active individuals of all skill levels will be able to jump right into all the fun activities that the island of Sao Miguel has to offer. Rappel down a waterfall, canoe in a crater lake, and even bike the volcanic terrain. In your free time, enjoy the slower pace and vibrant culture of the Azores as you explore the charming city of Ponta Delgada.
Trip Includes:
- 1 group round trip airport/hotel transfers in Ponta Delgada
- 6 nights accommodations at NEAT Hotel in Ponta Delgada

3 lunches - 3 full day Tours (Biking, Kayaking, whale watching and snorkeling)
- 2 half day tours (swimming with wild dolphins in the open ocean and canyoning)
- Free time on arrival and departure day to explore Ponta Delgada and 2 half days during the week for optional tours.

Today is the day to enjoy exploring Ponta Delgada or book yourself an extra tour. We are guaranteed early check in at our hotel today.

| Day 3 (7/18/22) | Kayaking on Lagoa das Furnas Lake and Terra Nostra Park Visit
Today you will head to the eastern side of Sao Miguel for a day of peace and tranquility. Take in the beautiful natural landscape as you spend the morning canoeing on Lagoa das Furnas. While you paddle, your traditional cozido lunch will be cooking in the ground on the banks of the lake. After lunch, you will head to Terra Nostra Park to visit the award-winning botanical gardens and also relax in the hot springs. A truly relaxing day spent in a beautiful place! | Day 4 (7/19/22) | Canyoning in Ribeira dos Caldeirões (Half day)
Get your adrenaline pumping! This adventurous activity is suitable for all ages and skill levels and is the perfect way to experience one of the beautiful, untouched areas of the island. Head out to the natural reserve of Ribeira dos Caldeirões on the north side of the island and get geared-up in a wetsuit, helmet, and harness. You will then hike in the riverbed, surrounded by canyon walls covered in lush vegetation. From time to time, you will encounter pools to swim across, large rocks to slide down, and waterfalls! At each waterfall, you will rappel down under the supervision of your knowledgeable and skilled guides. This is truly a unique experience that you will always remember! Meals: Breakfast |
| Day 5 7/20/22 | Full day – “Magnificent Whales & The Princess Ring snorkeling
This tour begins with a Whales and Dolphins Watching in the morning, then a stop to lunch in a local restaurant in Vila Franca do Campo, and after lunch you have the opportunity to visit, swim, or snorkel the islet of Vila Franca do Campo. The return to Ponta Delgada is around 4h30pm/5pm Meals included: Breakfast & Lunch |

Half day Swimming with wild Dolphins – at 8h30am. Duration about 2 hours and 30 minutes. You will have the rest of this day to explore Ponta Delgada. We will organize a group dinner this evening (each person will pay for their own meal) This will be swimming with Wild Dolphins in the open ocean

| Day 7 7/22/22 | Biking Sete Cidades and Spa Visit
On this full-day excursion, you will discover the western part of São Miguel, exploring the volcanic system of Sete Cidades and the thermal springs of Ferraria. The day begins with an easy bike ride in Sete Cidades, a landscape dominated by its blue and green lakes and considered to be one of the seven natural wonders of Portugal. After a picnic lunch, you’ll stop in Ferraria to see a unique coastal geological formation. In the spa area of Termas da Ferraria, you will have the opportunity to experience different types of thermal baths, including a sauna, a Turkish bath, and an indoor pool and jacuzzi. After this relaxing experience, you will have time for a swim in the outdoor pool, or even a dip in the sea. You will follow the scenic coastal southwest road of São Miguel to return to Ponta Delgada at the day’s end. Meals included: Breakfast & Lunch |
